Our Town(s)
devised by the company
after Thornton Wilder
Thornton Wilder's Our Town asks us to live truthfully, find the joy in the everyday, and care for the mundane ties that make up a community. In our own homes, far from one another and from the theater camp that brought us together, could we still be a community? What does it mean to be a community at a distance? Our Town(s) is an attempt to answer those questions, from this specific group of people in this specific moment of historical time. It is as fragmented as we feel right now; as untethered to theatrical form as Wilder's original; and as honest as we could make it. Something between a vaudeville and a prayer of gratitude, this piece of not-quite-theater is the wildly creative invention of the Summer 2020 Our Town(s) company at Ghostlight Theater Camp.
